Micro-Finance Makes Massive Impact with GEAR Trust

The news

The COSARAF Foundation, in partnership with GEAR Trust, has made significant strides in empowering women through self-employment initiatives. Over the past year, the Women Self-Employment Initiative, in Pakistan, has supported 237 women, providing them with the means to establish and grow their own businesses.

GEAR Trust, a nonprofit organisation dedicated to creating self-employment opportunities, has been instrumental in this effort. Their collaboration with COSARAF Foundation aimed to provide micro-finance support to underprivileged women in Pakistan, focusing on generating sustainable economic activities. This initiative has positively impacted the lives of over 230 women, fostering self-reliance and economic independence.

Through this project, GEAR Trust organised several initiatives in Mehran Town, Karachi, in collaboration with the Fahmida Begum Foundation. These initiatives aimed to uplift women by providing them with the resources and support needed to start their own home-based businesses. The project not only provided financial assistance but also offered continuous mentoring and follow-up support, ensuring the sustainability of these ventures.

The impact of this initiative is evident in the significant attitude and behavior changes among the women beneficiaries. Out of the 237 women supported, 233 have successfully continued their businesses, contributing to their household incomes and the local economy. The program has also indirectly benefited their families, with an estimated 1,185 individuals positively impacted.

The success of this initiative highlights the transformative power of targeted support and the importance of creating opportunities for women in underprivileged communities. The COSARAF Foundation remains committed to empowering individuals and building sustainable communities through similar impactful initiatives.
